Mine would be pattern recognition like in Potion Explosion! It reminds me of a word search and the excitement that I get when I solve it. What about you? What’s your favorite?
My favorite board game mechanic is narrative-based gameplay. I love being able to develop the story as I play, where my choices actually impact how things unfold later on. It lets me create a unique story that’s personal to me and leaves a lasting memory.
For me, it’s worker placement. I love the tension of everyone wanting to go for the same spaces and it’s a mechanic that works for a lot of themes that I find interesting.
Some of our favorite mechanics are
Engine building
Hidden identity or social deduction
Dungeon crawl
Euros
Roll and writes
Asymmetrical player abilities or skills
City builders
I’m a big fan of tile placement. Worker placement is great too. I don’t mind worker placement with dice rolling either. All good stuff! Some of my favorite games include Planet Unknown, Karuba, and anything else where I visually get to make a pattern. I love it so much, it hurts me when I play games where the pattern and connections don’t matter.
Nice! Welcome @Matgelair and @SuperTeeJ !
